Road to Rome: World War II

Road to Rome: World War II

The Allies had to take Italy in World War II. Beginning in 1943, it would be a fight that involved mountains, mules, and mud. Phase one started in Salerno and moved slowly on to Rome. This documentary film, narrated by CBS Sports' Jim Nantz, mixes extensive, beautiful, and amazing contemporary footage with smaller amounts of archival video and photos to tell the story of the Road to Rome in WWII.
